Refrasil products are high strength acid leached amorphous silica textiles made to maximize both temperature resistance and physical strength. All Refrasil silica cloths have silica contents of at least 96%. This silica content gives Refrasil silica cloths a true1800ºF use limit. Refrasil Cloths are available in high strength UC series, preshrunk C series, and Irish series for use at temperatures up to 2300ºF.
Refrasil cloths can be used for welding protection and furnace curtains. The most popular form of Refrasil silica is the standard UC series woven cloth. Refrasil cloths are available in a wide variety of various weights and thicknesses, as well as being offered with several different types of specialty coatings, including high temperature silicone, aluminized, and abrasion resistant.
With Refrasil textiles, maintenance time, labor, and energy costs can be reduced. Parts, materials, equipment, personnel, and machinery can be protected from potential damage and destruction caused by molten metal splash, sparks, and radiant heat.
Refrasil UC100 series cloth is a high strength with silica content of at least 96%. UC Series cloth will perform to 1800°F. UC100-48 is 20 oz/yd2 , 0.03” thick UC100-96 is 36 oz/yd2 , 0.05” thick UC series is available in our online store
Refrasil Irish series cloth are coated with an exclusive “Irish” coating that extends the temperature use temperature to 2300°F. Irish cloth is also available treated with an additional coating to minimize dusting C155-48 is 18 oz/yd2 , 0.026” thick 2221-48(Treated) is 20 oz/yd2 , 0.028” thick (available in our store) C155-96 is 35 oz/yd2 , 0.056” thick 2221-96 (treated) is 40 oz/yd2 , 0.056” thick.
Refrasil C-100 series cloths are pre shrunk for applications where low shrinkage in required. C-100 series cloth is commonly used in heat treating applications. C100-48 is 18 oz/yd2 , 0.026” thick. C100-96 is 35 oz/yd2 , 0.056” thick.
Refrasil AR series cloth is coated with an abrasion resistant orage coating, making it more abrasion resistacnt thand standard UC series cloth. This coating begins to burn off at 350°F. AR100-48 is 20 oz/yd2 , 0.032” thick. AR100-96 is 36 oz/yd2 , 0.052” thick.
